Welcome novice and experienced needleworkers!

Come along with any kind of hand or machine needlework project on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month!

We’ve set up this group in response to growing interest in all sorts of needlework – whether it’s cross stitch, tapestry, machine sewing, patchwork, or anything in between. Everyone is welcome, whether you're just starting out, an experienced stitcher, or looking to try something new.

Here’s what to expect:

  • Friendly support and advice from fellow crafters
  • A chance to share your projects – both in progress and completed
  • Opportunities to swap, recycle and reuse preloved patterns, fabric, and threads
  • Plenty of good conversation and great company!

Please note that any sewing machines brought to the sessions must be PAT tested (Portable Appliance Tested). For now, we kindly ask that you only bring patterns to cut out or hand stitching. If you’re interested in learning how to use a sewing machine, feel free to arrange a Sew-In with another member through our WhatsApp group.

The venue will generally be the upper room of Buxton Methodist Church (this is at the top of the stairs and unfortunately there is no alternative assistive access). Occasionally, group members may organise outings to fabric shops, mills and workshops.

To celebrate our move to St. Anne’s Parish Centre, the needlework group is inviting U3A members to try something new this month! Mend it May we are always encouraging people to repair clothes rather than throw them away. May is a perfect time for giving your wardrobe a spring clean and seeing if there is anything that needs mending. If you would like to join us on the 14th or 28th May between 2- 4pm, to use the sewing machine or take some advice on how to repair an item, contact Paula to secure your spot.
