Janette Sykes writes - Passionate about history, art, knitting or crochet? Then don’t miss The Longest Yarn 2 touring exhibition chronicling the military and social history of World War Two – marking the 80th anniversary of both VE Day and VJ Day. Buxton and District u3a members who joined a Charabanc trip to Southwell on Wednesday September 10 were lucky enough to visit the mammoth hand-crafted portrayal of one of the world’s major historical conflicts at Southwell Minster. Everything from Dunkerque to D-Day and rationing and Digging for Victory is lovingly interpreted in incredible detail. You can catch it at Stoke Minster in Stoke-on-Trent in October or at Great Wood Community Hall, Tean, Staffordshire Moorlands in December. Well worth a visit – visit www.thelongestyarn.com for full details.
UPDATE - due to be displayed at Lichfield Cathedral - WS13 7LD from 1st- 31st May 2026
