It’s been fantastic weather this summer, those sunhats have never had so much wear for a long, long time!
But no doubt come October we shall be comparing how many layers we are wearing nicely moaning about the chillier weather as we scrabble into the depth of the drawer to find those gloves. Just like the weather the Charabanc outings change, no longer gardens and outdoor visits but venues that are often covered and inside. Who wants to walk round gardens as the plants die back and hunker below ground?
So October we are off to BURY Friday 30th October.
Not only does Bury have a world-famous market with over 350 indoor and outdoor stalls and cafes, famously seen on both Rick Stein and Mary Berry’ cookery programmes. Black pudding is renowned from this market. Bury has a lot more to offer all within walking distance of where we will get off the coach. For those who love churches and the music lovers Bury Parish Church is well worth a visit with its Lunchtime Concert 12.30. The Bury Art Museum and Sculpture Centre with its bronze statue of Victoria Wood, a Bury lass, has so much to see and discover. The Fusilier Museum tells the story of the Lancashire Fusiliers Regiment through fascinating displays. The East Lancashire Heritage railway is running that day using a diesel engine and the Bury Transport Museum is open The Irwell Sculpture Trail Bury, the longest sculpture trail in the UK, has a cluster of 6 modern sculptures which can be seen in the centre of Bury on both dates. (Thank you, Paula Shaw, for the information.) Just in case you want to squeeze a bit more shopping in the coach stops virtually by the Mill gate Shopping Centre. But Bury has a lot more to offer as well as shopping. A day where you decide what you would like to do.
