Buxton u3a Recorder Group will meet twice a month on Monday afternoons from 2.00-3.30pm, in the Methodist Church Upper Room.   Dates for the first term will be October 5th and 19th, November 2nd and 16th, December 7th and 21st.   It will be led by Esme Upcott, assisted by Carol Bowns, who are experienced both in recorder playing and in leading musical groups.

Descant, treble, tenor and bass recorder players are all welcome.  There are a few spare recorders available if you want to try a different sized instrument.   The emphasis will be on playing together, in time and in tune, remembering to breathe and, most importantly, having fun in the process.   Don’t worry if you haven’t played since school days – we will be playing music arranged to suit all levels and will make sure that everyone feels supported.  Now’s the time to dig your recorder out of the loft and start getting reacquainted.    Or are you already a confident player in search of a group?     We would love to include time for solo spots at the end of the group playing session if anyone would like to do that too.

You will need to bring a music stand, again a couple of spares will be available, and a drink.   We will work on music from Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical and contemporary composers covering a wide range of genres.
